While living in Upstate New York, our family of four children, along with my husband's brother and his family and my father-in-law often would eat out together at the local Italian or Chinese restaurants on Sunday nights. During these and other restaurant outings, to keep the children occupied while waiting for the food to arrive, Grandpa Harry took out pens and pencils from his shirt pocket and asked the children to draw him on whatever placemat or napkin happened to be on the table. He then documented these papers with the child's name and the year they were created.
These original
drawings are now part of the series of three ephemera collage drawings. They
serve as a tribute to one man's original vision to forge a strong
relationship between him and his grandchildren.
