Floating alphabet letters over a grid of ephemera interspersed with
saved “worthless treasures” from my father-in-law recall the
caregiving by others.
As someone who appreciates quilts, both as works of art as well as using them
as warm blankets, transferring the feeling of a quilt to paper, with its grid
patterns, translates into a way to reveal the tension of gentle caregiving
comfort to an elderly or frail parent against the realities of struggling
with life’s daily challenges.
