Wedding
11 x 14" collage: cotton curtain fabric, gouache,
pastel, paper cutout, lace - 2007
A richly textured collage expressing contemporary Jewish wedding celebrations

Even on this most joyous occasion, the groom breaks a glass at the end of a marriage ceremony to remember the destruction of The Temple that occurred thousands of years ago. As guests dance the Hora around the newly married couple, the bride and groom are hoisted up onto chairs, often holding onto a handkerchief.
