Sukkot
11 x14" collage: ephemera found paper, gouache, paper cutouts -2007
A richly textured collage combining the historical significance of Sukkot as well as expressing contemporary ritual celebrations

About 25 years ago, our family began building a Sukkah (temporary booth) in our backyard to remember The Exodus and to fulfill the commandment to "dwell in the Sukkah". We ate our meals in this temporary shelter and invited friends and other family members to join us. The Patriarchs supposedly came to visit. Our roof covered with corn stalks had just enough open space to see the sky and perhaps a full moon.
