PASSOVER
11 x14" collage: pastel, gouache, ink drawing, paper cutouts, cotton curtain fabric-2007
A richly textured collage combining the historical significance of Passover along with contemporary expressions of ritual celebrations

I associate this holiday with lots of work - especially as a young child when my mother turned the house upside down to do major spring cleaning in preparation for this festival, and when my older sister and I brought up special Passover dishes from the basement to the kitchen. Sitting around a large dining room table filled with symbolic foods and other items, we retell the Exodus story by reading from a Hagaddah book.
