HANUKKAH
11 x14" collage: pastel, gouache, ink drawing, paper cutouts - 2007
A richly textured collage combining the historical significance of Hanukkah as well as contemporary expressions of ritual celebrations

Like so many Jewish holidays, celebrating them at home and being associated with special foods, makes them very special. After lighting candles for the Hanukkiah (a special Menorah) to remember the victory of religious freedom and the miracle of having a cruse of oil to last 8 days, our family enjoyed playing Dreidle games and eating Latkes (potato pancakes) fried in oil.
