Tradition Series
Jewish Life-cycle events and Jewish Festivals and Holidays depicted in these charming folk art drawings.
Curator: Susanne Katz - Atlanta, GA
TRADITION Series is a group of 12 original marker pen drawings with themes showing how intergenerational families celebrate Jewish Festivals, holidays and life-cycle events.
In 1999, the series was commissioned by The William Breman Jewish Home of Atlanta, GA. Titles in the series include: Dance, Contract, Canopy, Briss, Girl Naming, Bat Mitzvah, Bar Mitzvah, Seder, Hanukkah, Sukkah Tea, Candle Lighting and Torah Circling. Note that the artwork reflects the artist's personal interpretation, remembering how her family celebrated.
In the drawings, Rosefsky depicted several members of her family including her husband, children, grandchildren, father-in-law and other relatives and used Jewish ritual items from her private collection of Judaica as references for the series artwork.
Twelve framed digital prints are now part of their permanent collection.
