Girl's Naming
Marker pen drawing, (11x14"), 1999

New traditions have evolved surrounding the birth of a daughter, with more leeway as to when a particular ritual takes place. This drawing shows one familiar tradition where parents bring their baby daughter, perhaps a few weeks old, to the synagogue on a Friday evening or Saturday morning service to receive blessings from their Rabbi while their family and friends look on.
