Jewish Wedding Calendar
One of five in a Jewish Life-Cycle "Calendar" series of colorful folk art marker pen drawings, 11x14", 1992

The "Jewish Wedding" drawing shows some of the special rituals, traditions and celebrations associated with an American Jewish wedding. Many of the artist's family members serve as the models for the drawing. Seen as a visual calendar, starting with the upper left corner, one sees the Bedeken ceremony, signing the Ketubah (Jewish marriage contract), the ceremony under the Huppah (canopy), the reception, and ending with an open door to the couple's new home that includes a Hamsa and the mezzuzah, denoting that this is a Jewish home. A saying from Zohar, "God continuously creaes new worlds by causing marriages to happen" reflects the hope and wish for the couple to have children in the future.
A complimentary printed text entitled "From the Artist's View" will accompany each drawing sold in the Jewish Life Cycle "Calendar" series. To personalize the drawing, contact the artist.
