Miriam
paper cutout, pastel, gouache (11x14"), 1997

In 1996, Ahavath Achim Synagoue's Rosh Hodesh Group in Atlanta published "Miriam" as the Hagaddah cover for their fifth annual Seder whose theme that year focused on "music of the seder". From an artist statement in the Hagaddah - "Throughout the seder, God is praised in verse and song, in thankfulness and gratitude for the safe journey across the Red Sea and into the Pronmised Land. I hope that I have illustrated some of the energy and spirit found in the Hagaddah's joyful songs."
A variation of this "Miriam" drawing became a Judaic Challenge winner for The National Pomegranate Guild where guild members were able to use the design for future needlework projects.
