Ephemera Mixed Media Collage - 22 1/2" x 30" - 2005
Using saved business receipts, checks, invoices and other ephemera papers.

For this imaginary sukkah roof, the flowers decorating it incorporated the
saved ephemera from my father-in-law's "worthless treasures" as he
liked to
call them. His business, The Binghamton Bag and Burlap Co., serviced onion
and potato farmers in the western part of Upstate New York. As examples, Dad
saved his customer telephone and address books, canceled checks going back
to 1927 and invoices which boldly stated in red that they should "not
be
destroyed".
These temporary papers, which most people would have thrown away, became a living testimony to a life and time that deserved its own recognition by our remembering.
