Personal Sanctuary
48x48” Tablecloth Circa 1940, Newspaper Collage, Acrylic Paint, Pen, Mixed-Media -2008
A found tablecloth, whose red and white checkerboard pattern reminded the artist of a quilt grid, with its blank white spaces perfect for drawing whimsical ways of finding sanctuary once one enters a home, shutting out the outside chaotic world.

In an outside world of chaos and unpredictability, searching
for sanctuary in one’s personal life becomes a lifelong journey. I
enjoy using found objects while browsing through local antique shops. These
discovered treasures include interesting textiles like the tablecloth, to
punctuate visual stories. Turn the key; open the door to home. Shut out the
world. Welcome.
