2011 Signature Member of the National Collage Society

Flora Rosefsky, Atlanta, GA, has been granted Signature Membership in the National Collage Society. This is the highest distinction awarded to collage artists who have been selected by juries for three Annual Juried Exhibits.

As a signature member, this qualifies those artists to donate a piece to The National Collage Society Teaching Collection at Kent State University, School of Art in Kent, Ohio.  The National Collage Society, Inc (NCS, Inc) is a non-profit art education foundation with headquarters in Hudson, Ohio.  Membership has spread around the world with web presence www.nationalcollage.com

Each year a new three person jury selects the Annual Exhibit from hundreds of entries. A museum curator, art history professor and professional collage artist provide a balance of opinions to maintain a high standard of collage and assemblage, the latter being 3-dimensional collage.

An example of one of the needlepoint strips designed by Flora Rosefsky and sewn by one of the members of Temple Sinai.
Temple Sinai of Atlanta commissioned Flora Rosefsky to design seven new Torah covers, using the synagogue’s wood carved doors as inspiration for a theme of Jerusalem. Over 25 Temple Sinai participants employed their needlepoint skills to make wide and narrow strips using a variety of stitches which will be inserted into upholstery silk covers. A community reception is being planned to honor the occasion when a new Sefer Torah is presented to the congregation.  www.templesinaiatlanta.org

Reality

The Swan Coach House Gallery "Little Things Mean A Lot" show

Review excerpt by Debra Wolf–November 30, 2007

  • Flora Rosefsky’s "Reality" is monochromatic collage in black, white and silver. Fashioned of lace, a crocheted potholder, veil netting, paper, and silver fabric, the composition is anchored by a vintage vinyl 45, still intact. Ironically, it bears the label "Really," adding a whimsical touch to this record of an imagined, pieced-together past.
